In front of their friends and family, Sydney and Jordan tied the knot on October 6, 2018. Their waterfront wedding took place at the Herring Bay Gardens, overlooking the Chesapeake Bay and they danced the night away in the Yacht Club. How They Met

They met in the 6th grade! Jordan and Sydney were best friends and started dating when they were in the 8th grade. When asked why or how they’ve been together so long, Sydney says that the secret to a lasting relationship is being each other’s truest and best friend.

The Engagement Story

The trick was on Sydney who thought she was the one lining up a fall pumpkin patch photo shoot with her beau. Instead, it’s Jordan who arranged the details with the photographer and organized the family so they could be there when he popped the big question.

Wedding Planning Process

Sydney was in her last semester of nursing school when Jordan proposed. They’d already been best friends forever, so they took their time with a two year engagement. Sydney said her mother and mother in law helped her do the planning and she relied on the staff at Herrington on the Bay. She suggests that other couples download the Wedding Wire and Knot apps to help fit the wedding planning into a busy schedule.

Big Day Recap

The reception was the best time. I laughed so hard and had a blast dancing with my loved ones. Many noticed that I cried the majority of the ceremony. I was so darn happy that I couldn’t help it. I am so glad we took the time to write our own vows. Hearing Jordan pour out his heart in front of our closest friends and family meant the world to me.  – Sydney

What about the details?

Sydney said in the beginning, she spent a lot of time focusing on an exact theme. But in the end, she went with a romantic theme. Playing off the season, they incorporated autumn hues into the palette with rich oranges, deep burgundy and dusty rose.

What wedding advice do you have for other couples?

Breathe! It may seem impossible but take a deep breath. All of the stress and planning will be so worth it. I wish I could do it all over again and I wouldn’t change a thing. The small mishaps don’t even matter. Oh and it’s your wedding day- don’t forget that. So choose what you want rather than what you think will make people happy.
