The Herrington Resorts were founded by a family that has deep roots in Maryland.
"On behalf of The Summit School, we want to thank you. Those who attended our Gala raved about the food and your hot crab dip was a phenomenal (and popular) addition to our menu. You’ll be happy to know that the gala netted more than $75,000, which will go towards the Student Activities Center, which houses the gym, and the art and music rooms. I cannot thank you enough for helping us reach our goal. You made the difference."

Herrington History

The history of this magical place is just as special as each and every celebration held here.  The land on which Herrington Harbour sits today provided a bountiful location for summer bay harvests and therefore, a midden site for Native Americans, a landing site for pirates, and more recently the home of the Rose Haven Yacht Club.  Mr. Joe Rose, a Washington D.C. native, established and built the Yacht Club in the 40’s and 50’s.  He built a Yacht Club that serviced the local and D.C. boating community for 35 years.

In 1978, today’s owner, Steuart Chaney, purchased the Rose Haven Yacht Club, which had fallen into a state of disrepair at the passing of Mr. Joe Rose.  Mr. Chaney has transformed the dilapidated marina into one of the most awarded Eco-Lifestyle Marina Resorts in the country.  To read more about Herrington Harbour, please visit us at herringtonharbour.com.  To learn about Herrington’s honors and awards, please enjoy: http://www.herringtonharbour.com/awards.html

From those earliest years, Herrington has held an appreciation for the Chesapeake region, lush in its potential and worth every effort to preserve.

We all feel tied to the land and to the waters here, and that motivates us to responsible actions. Through our efforts, we hope that succeeding generations will benefit from the foundations we've laid.
